The World Cup of Poker – which is a PokerStars sponsored event – will host its sixth season this year. The regional qualifying tournaments will start on August 20th, and each USA state, Canadian Province and German State will have their own qualifying tournaments. On August 31st and September the 1st the Regional Teams will be finalized and the top players for each country will face off to decide which 4 players will represent their country at the World Cup of Poker.

There will be a total of 54 teams in the World Cup of Poker VI, but only nine teams will go to the Live Grand Final that will take place at the Atlantis Hotel and Resort in the Bahamas were the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure will be hosted.

In the 2008 World Cup of Poker Germany took the victory and took home the $100K 1st prize, New Zealand was 2nd and won $70K and 3rd was Italy with a $50K prize.

Back in the 2007 World Cup of Poker Team USA finished in 1st place. The year before that Team Poland had the honors, and the two years before that Team Costa Rica finished in 1st place.
