Rincon Craps
Rincon craps adds the excitement of the dice back in the game. In Rincon's new version, players roll dice to determine which of 12 cards are flipped over to decide wins and losses. Other than that, the play and betting at 'Rincon Craps' are the same as at any craps table in Las Vegas.
I have to admit, I've been playing 'card craps' at Harrah's Rincon in San Diego and the game is fun to play. And sometimes the table gets 'hot' and we win some money.
The casino features the Firebet and once all six points were established and made by one 'shooter' and the $5 Firebet paid $5,000. I've been at the table three times when 5 of 6 points were made by the shooter (I was one of the shooters) which paid $1,250. And last night I was there and in my turn I made four different points which paid $125.
The Rincon 'card craps' game is a bit different from other casinos in that a 'shooter' throws a blue die and a red die and the number on each die indicates which of six playing cards is chosen to determine the actual 'number.' The six cards are numbered 1 through 6.
In other casinos shooters might not throw dice and a dealer would turn over two cards which simulate a roll of the dice. Different casinos seem have different ways to play the game. But what makes all of the 'card craps' games different from a Vegas-style dice game is that the shooter does not control the outcome. In all cases the casino has some or all of the control on the outcome.
In a casino such as Pechanga where a dealer chooses randomly shuffled cards that simulate the roll, the casino has all of the control.
At Rincon while a player throws the dice, the dice only indicate which cards are turned over and those cards are shuffled by an automatic shuffling machine.
So why play it?
In the Vegas-style craps game, a shooter has the possibility of influencing the dice and the results. While it is questionable if any 'shooter' really can influence the dice the possibility at least is there. Some shooters imagine that they can influence the dice based on their grips and throws.
In the California card craps games -- no matter what version and at what casino -- it is impossible for the shooter to have any real or even imagined influence at all.
So if you think that no one can ever influence dice in the traditional game of craps, then playing a California card craps game is the same thing -- provided the pays are the same on the various bets. (Note: some of the California pays on certain bets are not the same as in some Vegas casinos.) But if you think there is a glimmer of hope that a player might be able to have some or any influence on dice, then the California card craps games are nothing more than using an automatic shuffler to choose two cards (even if you do get to throw dice to choose the cards).
I am still hoping that the Constitution in California will be amended so that Vegas style craps can be played here. If you can throw two dice to choose two cards, what's the difference if you just eliminate the cards?

It has a lot of strong points but it doesn't appear to be the social experience I enjoy in craps. Here is a Youtube video. It starts with bubble craps until 7:45 when the Hybrid starts.

There is only a stick and a dice shooter. Looks like you have a touch screen and chair to make your bets.
I like they timing on bets so there aren't long waits for a new roll. It's kind of gone roulette with the roll count and history of numbers rolled.
It's an interesting option.
Thanks.

neither the players nor the house can possibly like the pace [just watched a bit , not the whole thing]the next time Dame Fortune toys with your heart, your soul and your wallet, raise your glass and praise her thus: “Thanks for nothing, you cold-hearted, evil, damnable, nefarious, low-life, malicious monster from Hell!” She is, after all, stone deaf. ... You can see the dealer touching something on the table after some rolls. Maybe those are the cards? Obviously the cards can’t be part of the programming.I invented a few casino games. I did some Googling. This article dated 2003.
RINCON INDIAN RESERVATION -- As reported by the Union Tribune: `` Stretching legal limits to new bounds, Harrah's Rincon Casino has quietly begun running what is believed to be the state's first dice-based craps game.
``Although craps is illegal in California, Harrah's says its full-size table – opened without fanfare last month – qualifies as a 'card game' under its state gambling compact. Players roll dice to determine which of 12 cards are flipped over to decide wins and losses.
``Other than that, the play and betting at 'Rincon Craps' are the same as at any craps table in Las Vegas. The game was developed in-house and certified California-legal by Rincon's tribal gaming commission.
```We are entirely within the intent of the law,’ said Marty Goldman, Harrah's Rincon marketing vice president. ‘The final outcome of the game is still determined by cards, but we've added dice as a precursor to that to give it the color, to give it the feel of real craps.’
``A table dealer put it more bluntly: 'To get around the law in California, it's about as good as you can do.'
``Rincon's move is the boldest in tribes' attempts to introduce variations on craps and roulette, lucrative casino games that are not sanctioned under California's Indian gaming compacts…”
Man, this is Azure 'Roll to Win' digital Craps table. This has nothing to do with Card Craps. As for Azure - yes, I like it. The most important piece - rolling the dice - is preserved so nobody needs to worry about random number generation and all this stuff. At the same time the winnings are paid automatically and there are no chips so things are actually easier for everyone. One bit that's unclear to me is what does it do with the winnings - are they recorded on a casino's membership card, paid straight to the inserted bank card or something else? And what about the Odds? My guess is they are configurable by the management.
